As the country and economy recover from the unprecedented year of the Covid-19 pandemic, the workforce is looking different than ever before. With the requirement to work remote for the majority of the past eighteen months when the pandemic was in full swing, companies are now in the decision making process of whether they require employees to come back in-office full time, offer hybrid schedules or continue full remote work.
Before the pandemic occurred, I was someone who had to be around people. I loved being in the office setting and collaborating and chatting with colleagues and work friends. When I was first sent home, I went crazy being alone all day, every day. It was a difficult journey to learn how to entertain myself from home, but remain productive in getting my work done. After over a year of working remotely, I learned to love it! Now, I cannot imagine being in an office full time for 40 hours each week. While I think there is great value that comes from working in person with colleagues and collaborating face to face, I find that I am more productive from home.
It has been interesting to watch the debates take place on LinkedIn regarding going back in office or staying remote. I am more and more intrigued by how companies make their final decisions and watch their employees’ reactions to said decision. While I may not be a CEO or founder of a major company, I find value in both settings. I am definitely an advocate for a hybrid schedule, and I am happy to discuss that with everyone and anyone. Disagree? Let’s chat.
